Rediscover Christmas traditions

When we think of Christmas, some images pop into our minds. The snow-clad scenes, the open roaring fire and the dinner table, laid out like a banquet. Christmas is a time when we allow ourselves some freedom to descend into decadence. With cake, chocolate and booze aplenty, we give our tastebuds the time of their lives.

When true artisans focus on our traditional Christmas favourites, there is magic in the air. Let’s tempt our inner elf with some of the finest traditional products this Christmas.

Let’s start with the cake

The festive season is a time when we can release our inner children. What does every kid want? To start the day with cake; to eat the cake before the meal; to only eat cake!

Mamma’s Jamaican Mini Christmas Cake has to be the most delicious treat. Made by Woolery Forbes, these eco-friendly delights are covered in marzipan and full of booziness. The Guild of Fine Foods recommends this as a great alternative to Christmas pudding.

Each mini fruit cake is handmade from a family recipe that is more than a hundred years old and takes 18 months to mature enough to be ready for market. When love and patience are poured into a cake, you know you will be treated to a feast of flavour. The best thing is these come in single portion units, which means you don’t have to share!

Every moment is a treat!

The best part of Christmas is that you can graze. You can spontaneously decide that you deserve something delicious, and all the rules about meal times fly out the window. Imagine, in those moments of desire, you can reach for some Mince Pie flavoured fudge. Made with soya milk and so great for the environment, these will help you feel naughty while being nice. These treats come packaged in a beautiful tin, so they might well be the perfect gift for Grandad too!

Then, there is the advent calendar treat. If you are anything like us, your advent calendar seems to suggest it is already Christmas Eve. Like us, you might want to take this opportunity to get yourself another advent calendar, and this time filled with luxury chocolate truffles. It is a sea of flavour and the Earl Grey Dark Chocolate Truffle are Great Taste Awards Winner in 2020. The display case is beautiful and can be a centrepiece to your Christmas decorations.

Bring on the booze!

The Gin in A Tin needs no introduction. There are 12 gins for the 12 days of Christmas. What a way to enjoy this wonderful time of year! Available in a stylish tin, it is also the perfect gift for friends and family and showcases some of the different flavours from gin connoisseur Martin Agius, founder of the Gin Pantry.

Alternatively, you could set yourself up for a Christmas picnic with marmalade gin liqueur, shortbread and marmalade shortbread from Simon’s Table Ltd. A divine way to spend an evening in bed watching a movie with a loved one this Christmas. Enjoy!
